Itinerary

Day 1Arrive Beijing

Arrive Beijing. Our tour guide will meet you at airport and transfer to hotel for check in.

Day 2Temple of Heaven and the Forbidden City Tour (B, L, D)

Morning tour visit the Temple of Heaven, a complex visited by the Emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties for prayer to Heaven for good harvest. Now days, you will find locals practicing Taichi and other unique morning exercises. After lunch, visiting Tiananmen Square and explore the Forbidden City, the largest imperial palace in the world. Enjoy the famous Beijing Duck dinner in evening.

Day 3Great Wall and Hutong Tour (B, L)

Morning tour visit the Great Wall. You may hike or take the cable car to the top to enjoy the magnificent view. Afternoon, return to Beijing city and visit the Hutong alley ways with rickshaw ride to learn traditional Beijing culture and history. Then take a leisure stroll through the NanluoguXiang, an alley way in old part of Beijing combining old architecture and modern gallery, cafe and souvenir shops.

Day 4Beijing - Xian (B, L)

Morning tour to Summer Palace, an imperial garden in the Qing Dynasty and the largest and the most well-preserved imperial garden in China. Afternoon, travel to Xian. You can choose travel by flight (2.5 hrs) or experience the modern high-speed train. The high-speed train is one of the best ways to travel in China and it runs at speed of 180 – 215 mph. Upon arrival, guide meet and transfer to hotel. Rest day free.

Day 5Terracotta Warriors and City Tour (B, L D)

Morning visit Terracotta Warriors Museum, a collection of life size terracotta sculptures in battle formation guarding the mausoleum of Qin Shi Huang, the first Emperor of China for over 2000 years. Afternoon, tour visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, Grand Mosque and Muslim Quarter. For dinner, you will experience the famous dumpling feast where you can choose from over 100 varieties. After dinner, attend the Tang Dynasty Music and Dance Show.

Day 6 Xian - Lhasa, Tibet (B, L)

Morning tour to the ancient city wall and Provincial Historical Museum. Afternoon, depart for Lhasa by flight (3.5 hrs). Upon arrival, guide meet and transfer to hotel. Rest day free.

Day 7Lhasa Tour - Potala Palace, Johkang Temple, Barkhor Street (B, L)

Day tour to Potala Palace, the winter palace of the Dalai lama. Jokhang Temple, the spiritual center of Tibetans. Out side, you will see pilgrims making prostrating. Around temple is the Barkhor Bazaar, where you can do kora with pilgrims and locals and explore the old market.

Day 8Lhasa Tour - Drepung and Sera Monaster (B, L)

Morning tour visit Drepung monastery which is one of the “great three” Gelug monasteries of Tibet. You can see the biggest monastery kitchen inside the monastery and enjoy Buddhist Sculpture Carving workshop near Drepung.

Afternoon, visit Sera Monastery, which is another one of the “great three” Gelug monasteries of Tibet. During 3
5PM, you can witness the Monks debate. In addition, you can tour the Tibetan religious scripture printing house; inside the monastery, you can see three sand Mandalas and colorful Rock Painting of Buddha.

Day 9Lhasa - Chengdu Panda and Ancient Street Tour (B, L)

Transfer to airport and depart for Chengdu by morning flight (2 hrs). Upon arrival, visit the Giant Panda Breeding Center where you will catch pandas’ feeding and play. Later visit the Jingli Street, a well preserved ancient street with history dating over 2000 years ago. Here you can taste many traditional local snacks, shop for traditional style souvenir such as Shu embrodiery, lacquer and other folk handicrafts. Also, you can see the traditional shadow puppy show, calligraphy demonstrations and the famous Sichuan Opera.

Day 10Dujiangyan Tour - Shanghai (B, L)

Morning trip to Dujiangyan – the oldest and only surviving no-dam irrigation system in the world. Afternoon, depart for Shanghai by flight (3 hrs). Transfer to hotel upon arrival.

Day 11Shanghai Highlights (B, L)

Morning tour the old part of Shanghai by visiting the famousYu Garden, Jade Buddha Temple, Shanghai Museum, Xintiandi and Tianzifang area. Later afternoon, visit the the Bund to see the charming view of Huangpu river and distinctive architectures. Later stroll through the famous Nanjing Road, the main shopping streets of Shanghai.

Day 12Shanghai - Suzhou (B, L)

Day tour to Suzhou by car (1.5 hrs) and visiting Lingering Garden, Penman Gate, boat ride on the Grand Canal and Embroidery Institute. Return to Shanghai in later afternoon.

Day 13Shanghai - Departure (B)

Transfer to airport for departure.

Based on flight schedule, can arrange optional tour visit the Pudong New Development Zone and Shanghai Tower (as of 2019, it’s the 2nd tallest building with world’s tallest observation deck).
